February 2026

With the success of my Etsy small business over the prior two years, I took the opportunity to sell my products at a social event - Edge Hill’s Big Geek Fundraiser 2026: an annual student-led charity event held in Edge Hill’s Student Union, raising money for Special Effect, Mermaids and Action for Children.

This event gave me a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow students with shared artistic and nerdy interests, and gave me further insight to the demographics my products attract, helping me develop new ideas on where to take my business next. In an entrepreneurial role, it is crucial to keep tabs on what customers respond to, as it helps guide the business forward, and I’m grateful for this event providing such an opportunity. I also enjoyed the company of other artist vendors, who gave me valuable insight into the Artist Alley vending experience. Everyone’s energy was truly infectious and has given me motivation to continue selling my art at in-person events in the future!

Over the 6 hour event, I sold 50 items - including lino-printed tote bags, handmade keyrings, stickers and pin badges.

Aside from my own personal development, I want to congratulate all the vendors, attendees and contributors to the Big Geek Fundraiser 2026, as the event raised a grand total of £2700 for this years charities! I’m so happy to have been involved and hope to participate again next year!
